UX/UI Design
Nowadays doing laundry can be a tedious and time-consuming task to do, especially for the young generation who lives alone and is busy at work in the afternoon. As a user of a local laundry service, I also face this challenge myself, such as forgetting to pick up my cloth, ironing the wrong clothes, and so on.
One solution to this problem is to evacuate this traditional laundry service to an online platform so the user can easily manage their laundry. These problems drive me to design a better concept and journey of laundry service from collecting the data in user research to design execution to eliminate all the users pains.
I started from gathering the data and pain points by interviewing the users of the laundry service and collecting all the information, as well as the problems they had with the existing laundry service.
After the user research has been done, I also studies on the existing laundry application on the marketplace to see what the others are doing and what they might still be lacking.
Simply — Although various services has been offered on the website, how the information is laid out is pretty confusing. For example, there are options for each service, but if I select 2 'Wash&Fold' and 'Wash&Iron', they didn't let me choose which clothes I do iron.
Washdrop — The application is pretty simple, however, could be hard to use as a lack of geolocation functionality. This could be hard for the users to know how far/near is the laundry store operates from their home, hence causing confusion and inconvenience usage.
Do4You— This application offers various service, but UI is pretty bad and confusing
To better visualize an ideal laundry application concept, I created 2 user personas based on competitor analysis and user research to reflect user's goals. lifestyle, and behaviour when using the laundry service.
Based on persona I have created, now the to-be user flow has been designed to rectify user journey when using laundry application; select service, add special services, and pick up date&time.
After I was clear on the vision for the design, I started drafting wireframes and laying out contents by taking into account the user needs and goals.
